Riverside Art Project Appeals For New Home

Holmfirth's new Community Art Project, Riverside Art is appealing for exhibition space after losing it's tenure in the Riverside Shopping Centre.

Project Co-ordinator Andy Hemingway said, "Unfortunately we have been asked to leave the two units that we have occupied over the last few weeks at the Riverside Shopping Centre, as commercial offers have been received by the management. It is disappointing, as many contributors have put a lot of work into making the the art space a great success. However, we were always aware that this may happen and we would like to thank the owner and the management of Riverside and very much appreciate their generosity."

Riverside Art are now appealing for anyone who may be able to offer alternative exhibition space to contact them.

"We very much hope that someone with another empty shop or unit may be able to offer us, at least a temporary alternative, so that we can continue the momentum that we have built so far" said Andy. "We feel that our tenure at Riverside created a great buzz for the centre and brought in lots of extra visitors. A lot of people commented that it was a good thing for the centre."

Riverside Art is a community based arts project that aims to promote the work of local artists and take the arts out into the community. Anyone who may be able to help can contact Alan Dalgetty on 07956 362951 or Andy Hemingway on 07930 252372.
